Is this a good benefitI received a job offer from a company that has the TIAA-CREF retirement plan. Anybody have any firsthand knowledge or experience with this plan? Should I view this employer any more or less favorably because of this offering?
TIAA-CREF retirement plan is just another type of deferred savings plan, not unlike a 401K retirement plan or any other type of similar plan. I think you should probably look on the employer favorably for offering any type of retirement/savings plan. Paul W. Barada The Negotiation Expert Yes, I have a TIAA-CREF plan, into which I only put $1,000 of my own money when I was employed by a university many years ago. It's now worth around $20,000. Their management is competent, and they offer a very wide range of investment products, including a "socially responsible" one that's grown a lot in value. I'm much happier with this plan than I was with my private investment plan with one of the "big" investment firms--which lost tons of money. I would consider this plan equal to, or better, than most company-provided plans. | |
