HELP an offer coming tomorrow!!

I had been laid off from my position making 66,000/year. with excellent benes.  I will be receiving an offer tomorrow from a company I had been interviewing with.  On the job posting the salary range was 54,000-65,000/year.  The HR person asked me my previous salary which I told her.  I need to have at least in the low 60's to justify the long commute with the new job.  What if they offer 55k?  I have never had to negotiate before and I am not sure how to react to an offer when she calls me tomorrow.  HELP PLEASE!!

Based on the assumption that your qualifications for the job are a decent match for the requirements of the job, I'd anticipate an offer about in the middle - around $60K - of their posted salary range.  If that turns out to be case, since you're not working, I'd accept the offer.  If the offer is at the low end of the range, you can politely ask if the offer is negotiable and see what they say.  If it's not, then it will be up to you to decide whether or not to accept it or decline it.  On the other hand, if the offer is negotiable, I'd counter with a range by saying something like, "I was anticipating an offer in the $60K to $62K range."  But I sincerely think you have to also be prepared to state specifically how your qualifications - experience, training, skills, past job performance, and education are a great match for the qualifications of the job and how what you bring to the table will make the job worth more to the employer because you're in it.
