Salary QuestionHow about a full charge bookkeeper working 30 hours a week at 30,000? This is for Florida too (the cheapest labor state in the union)? Do you guys think this is too high salary for the job indicated above?
Hi bellothball2 You are not even working a 40 hour week which is full time so you decide on what the Howcan you protect yourself from being underpaid? Know your worth beforeentering into any discussion or renegotiation of your salary. Hope this helps! MCCathy Community Moderator Monster Looks like your earning somewhat more than $19 per hour which, on the surface, doesn't sound too bad. The real question that you need to answer, however, is whether or not you're able to meet all your everyday financial obligations on that level of income. So, if I were you, I'd figure out what my monthly expenses are over the last several months and come up with a monthly average expense figure. Take that amount times 12 and you should have a fair idea of what level of income you need and below which you cannot go in order to stay afloat financially. Call that "can't go below" amount X. Add about $10K to X to come up with a range in which you at least need to be in order to survive and maybe even save a little. You may never have to tell anybody what this income range is, but I think YOU need to know what it is as a basis upon which to make more informed salary decisions. It's a range that can, at least, be used as a reference point as you evaluate job and salary offers. Paul W. Barada The Negotiation Expert | |
