Need Advise

1st Interview was phone interview, caught me completely off-gaurd when he asked me my salary expectations, The range I gave him was little below to 10% above of what I am making now, as I did not do my research at that time.

2nd Interview was face-to-face

3rd interview is face-to-face but he has already sent me the employment application, he wants me to

send in the application before I go for the interview. I am little surprised as this is a very big international firm.

The application of course asks my current salary. Should' nt this will kill my salary negotiation.

Should I fill in my salary history?

Yes, you should fill it in. In this case I highly doubt your salary history will play much part in determining the salary offered because you have already told them what your requirement is.

In addition, if they really want it and you don't fill it in they will ask in the interview. You can dance around the question all you want but you won't be making a good impression by doing so.

Not to beat on you personally, but as soon as we apply for a job we must know what our salary range is. We read here all the time that people are caught off guard or surprised or are otherwise unprepared and just blurt out something that may hurt the salary-wise.

You should honestly provide the salary information requested, assuming you want to stay in the running for the job.  As the process continues, your anticipated salary should be at least 10% to 15% more than you' re earning now - and I think you can handle your initial mis-statement by, again, just being honest, and saying that the question caught you off guard and that you mis-spoke about your anticipated salary range, and that now that you have a more complete understanding of the job and it' s requirements, your anticipated salary would be negotiable within the $X to $Y range - and that' s assuming a job and salary isn' t made by them to you first.  If an offer is made that' s at least in the 10% to 15% more range, you may want to accept it.  If it' s not, you can still use the "I mis-spoke about my salary requirements" approach and then politely ask if their initial salary offer is negotiable.  Zat help?
