How many interviewsI have been doing a lot of interviews and need more advice. I applied for a position (Executive Asst) and received a call about a week later to schedule a phone interview for the following week. After the phone interview, I was scheduled for an office interview the following week. On my way to the office interview, I received a call rescheduling the appointment until the next day. I went to that interview the next day and thought it went well but didn't hear anything so I moved on. About 2 1/2 weeks later I received a call from this company notifying me that I had made it to the next round of interviews and was asked to another phone interview with the person who would be my supervisor. This interview was 45 minutes. A week later I was called and told that the supervisor was impressed, blah, blah and wanted me to come in to meet with him regarding the position. The morning of that interview, I received a call rescheduling for the following week. Finally, I get to the office interview with the supervisor. I am thinking positive about the position because I have jumped through all the hoops and did all the back flips. In this interview, the supervisor told me "we are not going to make a hasty decision and if selected we will call you in for another interview. In that interview you will be tested on your software/typing skills". I'm thinking --what the heck??? I am going to move on but wanted to get some input. Am I getting the run around?? Thanks Every company handles the pre-employment interview process a little differently. I don't think you're getting the "run around" at all. This is just the way this particular companies goes about hiring new people. Some need to make hiring decisions quickly, some take significantly longer. That's not suggest, however, that you shouldn't continue looking while you're hoop jumping. It's not uncommon at all for an employer to take several weeks to complete the hiring process. Not surprisingly, many companies are very careful about who they hire and take their time picking the candidate they believe is right for the job. In addition - with no disrespect intended - hiring someone to fill the spot for which you're being considered probably isn't the only thing these people have to do during the course of the day. All kinds of other things could have come up that have caused the hiring process to take longer than it normally would.
