Yearly review

In July I will be having my yearly evaluation.  I want to be prepared because last year they caught me off guard when they didn' t give me any increase after 10 years of service.  Right now I am a Secretary/Receptionist for a manufacturing company in western Pennsylvania that employs about 90 people.  I am currently making $10.00/hour with benefits.  With the minimum wage increase coming up in July I feel that I should be making a lot more than what I am.  What would be a decent request for an increase.

Wait and see what sort of increase is proposed.  If you think it' s too low, just politely ask if the proposed increase is negotiable and see what happens.  If it is, and if you' re asked what sort of increase you have in mind, I think you could say that you were anticipating an increase in the $12 to $15 per hour range, but even with all your experience, I would be careful about pushing too hard for larger increase.  There are probably people out there who would love to have your job at ten bucks an hour with benefits.
