To negotiate or not

I got my offer which is higher than I expected and is in line with the salary data available on the net? Should I still negotiate for a little more?

The company really likes my profile, the hiring manager said so.  I like the company and the job. Will it show me in bad light if I try to negotiate on a good offer? Or do companies keep a little bit of wiggle room.

Thanks

BK

Never, never, never try to negotiate more salary just for the sake of negotiating!  If the salary and benefit package is one you'd otherwise be happy to accept - accept it!  It's foolish to run the risk that the prospective employer might withdraw the offer because you tried to negotiate more.

You're not serious, right? As Paul says, take the job & don't even try to negotiate!

If the offer was in line with online salary calculators, chances are you are making much higher than the median wage for that job--many, probably most (but not all) of those sites like salary.com are on the very high side.

Why would you risk being thought of as greedy? That's what'll happen if you attempt to negotiate a great offer. Don't assume they have left wiggle room--maybe they currently love you so much they upfront offered the top of the range so they could get you without the hassle of haggling.

Don't blow it; take the job.

Thanks for the sound advice !!! I will be discussing the offer today. I plan to ask for a couple of days of extra time off.
