Has your value been depreciatedSince your last job, have you found that the offers are way less than what you were making before?
In my case, no, not quite. I mean, I HAVE been depreciated before, but when I moved from one job to another one, I moved on a vertical axis, the next job was allways better paid that the previous because otherwise why would I change my job, right? Section of post does not conform with Monster TOU Other than a rather broad, sweeping question, why are you asking? Paul W. Barada The Negotiation Expert
Temporarily I have been devalued, had to accept $11, but turn around to make $25. Your "AT Will, " so it works both ways, no one holding a gun to your head accepting the low balled wage. Value is a matter of prespective, it is all in how you deal with it. Don't lower your wage, unless you have to be realistic and stuck in order to work.
I think in some cases they have. Most employees remember the heady days of the dot-com whirl when headhunters waited out in parking lots for employees to recruit. We all had jobs that paid well over the values seen in previous years. For those of us who are looking now, I think you are seeing (a) the difference between above market pricing from the late 90's - early 2000's and todays more realistic salaries and (b) the tail end of an employer-driven job market. | |
