Following Up!I' ve got a question about a follow up I have already done, but no response. On March 30th,I emailed my cover letter and resume like the company requested, but it was to a specific person that works in recruiting instead of the generic recruiting address. I recently worked with a lady that worked in recruiting for this company and she told me who to email to using her name. Anyway, she emailed back that day telling me I was very qualified and asked about salary requirements and I emailed her back with my answer, which I also got my range from the lady I knew that used to work their, so I think I am good with salary. The ending date for applying was on April 4. I emailed the same lady yesterday, April 9th, to follow up giving the dept. sometime to receive all the resumes. I haven' t heard back from her yet and it' s Tuesday afternoon, April 10th. When should I follow up again? I don' t want to be pushy, but I want to make sure she knows I want an interview. I also have another source that works in HR, but only in benefits, but she said there was talk of me being called for an interview. HELP! I was a mortgage processor and lost my job in January. That makes 4 times I have lost my job in 10 years in the mortgage business, brokers go out of business or banks get bought out. I refuse to work in that industry any longer, so I am looking for an Executive Admin position now, which doesn' t pay very well, but after 3 months I have decided any pay will do. I just want a job that pays decent and has benefits, but I am having trouble finding pay that more than $10.00 an hour. I really don' t want to mess this opportunity up, so I need advise. They just got the applications in. It may take them a couple weeks to go through them and get back to you. There is no way for you to hurry the process. Next Tuesday, if you haven' t heard anything, call, on the phone and ask what the status of the position is. If they haven' t made any decisions yet, then wait until you get an interview before you contact them again. If they don' t call, although you' ve got great qualifications, they' ve gone with someone else. I think you' re being a tad impatient. As Tess suggested, wait until next week, then call and ask about the status of your candidacy. Reviewing resumes can take time, not to mention the fact that it' s possible that these people also have other tasks to perform during the course of the day. It' s OK to be politely persistent, but don' t become a pest. Thank you! I just heard from them this morning. I had a phone interview and now she is sending my resume to the hiring manager. She said it could take 2 days or 2 weeks. If I don' t hear anything for a couple of weeks, should I follow up with someone or just wait it out? I know the department where the position is open, do I find out who the hiring manager is and contact that person? I have never had to go through finding a job before. All the jobs I had were through contacts. I don' t have any contacts outside of the mortgage industry. Holly, you really need to settle down. They said this next stage could take 2 weeks. If you haven' t heard from them by May 1, then call again (to the HR contact). Keep in mind the Hiring Manager may not interview everyone who passes the phone screen either. In the last job I hired for, I only interviewed 2 of the candidates although HR did phone screens with about 6. In the meantime, keep looking. Don' t put all your eggs in this one basket. If it works out, great! But you need back ups. Wait two weeks and, if you haven' t heard, call the person who just called you to ask about the status of your candidacy. Do not try going around the person who called you - that would be terribly bad form. | |
