Slow Job Offer Proposal...I have been waiting for a job offer proposal for over a month now and want to know if there anything I can do to speed up the job offer proposal. The employer verbally offered the position on the phone a week after the initial interview and said that they would make up a job proposal offer and get it to me. I waited for 3 week and did follow up with a phone call last week and was told that it would be offered to me soon, but still nothing. I really want this job and do not want to keep bugging the potential employer, but at the same time there is another job offer pending. What can I do? WOW – Same here. Are we are waiting on the same offer from the same company? Is the business located in I have called once and emailed the company twice. It has been three weeks. I am going to tell the company that I have another career offer pending. I need to make a decision soon. I am going to stress that it is difficult to make a decision without the details of their pending offer. If they are truly interested in hiring me, they will make their offer. Another concern: Maybe if this company delays like this on an offer what else do they delay on? Good luck! I will check the board to see what happens with you and I will be in touch via the board to let you know what happens on my end with my offer. There is nothing you can do to speed things up. They take as long as they take. If you have another offer on the table, you may have to decide to take that one and pass on the pending one. Personally, I think it' s a serious mistake to attempt to force an employee to send out an offer letter, particularly if it' s a bluff. Depending on the organization and the other things that they have to do during the course of the day, it could take several weeks to get an offer letter out. With no disrespect intended, preparing a more "formal" offer letter may not be at the top of their "to do" list on any given day or during any given week. All sorts of things could have come up the require their immediate attention. I do think, however, that it' s OK to be politely persistent, just don' t become a pest. With regard to bluffing, what if they say something like, "Well, we' ve been working on this really important million-dollar project so, perhaps, it would be better if you accepted the other offer since we' re not going to be able to get your offer letter to you for a while yet." How often should I follow up without sounding like a pest? And would it be better to follow up with an email or phone call? A phone call is always better in my opinion. At most, I think you can call about once every 7 business days - but it you get a recording, don' t leave a message and continue to call every few days until reach the person with whom you first spoke. | |
