Background Check

I have a dilemma, I applied for a position that ran a criminal back ground check on me and something that was to be expunged showed up. I was shocked. I was told it would not be accessible.  How do you explain the reason why I did not disclose the information? Any comments are truly welcomed.

You can try saying that you thought it was to be expunged but odds are very high this job is gone.  It can take ages to sort these things out and most companies won't wait around for that to happen.

Sorry!

Tess

My thoughts exactly. I just hope not.

When a court record is "expunged" that means no record should exist at all.  Somebody with the court system fouled up and the burden will unfortunately be on you to show that your record is clean.  That notwithstanding, most employers will be more concerned about what you allegedly did or didn't do, not whether you managed to have it removed from your record - unless you really didn't do whatever you were changed with doing.
