Resume Critique


Good afternoon! I recently became available to the workforce again and need to polish my marketing tool (resume). Can you please critique and offer advice?

June 1994     Univ. of Toledo. Bachelor of Science Degree in Math with a Specialty in Computer Science.

 

Skills / Certifications:

·         Certified Novell Engineer 3, 4, 5

1. Your Objective is way too vague.  Just state that you want an IT position.

2. Your experience is stronger than your education.  Accordingly, put your education after the experience in your resume.

3. You're going back too far.  Maybe go back ten years or so.

Remember that what I give are just ideas.  With that said, do you think that your list of companies is too long?  I don't know how many pages your resume would be because I couldn't approximate that without printing it (which I honestly didn't feel like doing).  In the fast paced world of computers and Information Technology do you think that maybe going all the way back to being a lab technician for a "Build Your Own Computer" course would be valid?  Remember I'm just giving ideas.  Maybe you could state the number of years of your experience in your cover letter, but omit it from the resume.  Maybe like a time cutoff of say, 10 years?  IT is definitely not my field so I'm just giving you some ideas to work with.  Honestly your resume looks pretty strong.  Good luck!
