ADHD and High IQ

I recently found out that I have ADHD, and a High IQ (in the Very Superior Range). I am on ritalin for the ADHD now, and I feel like I can do whatever I put my mind to. I have always been a very creative, intelligent and analytical person, but my career has just kind of meandered along through the birth of two children, divorce, and life' s ups and downs. I have never realized my potential and I am bored in my current position.  I now want to jump start my career and use this newly realized personal capital.  I want a job that is much more of a technical and creative challenge, that pays at least 20,000 dollars more a year than I am making now (I am making well under market, working for the Federal Government right now.) I am interested in moving from data base design, application development and programming to developing data warehouse and data mining applications. I know that I would be very well suited for this as I am Analytical/Analytical. One of my current colleagues has urged me to include my IQ on my resume and not to be afraid to mention in in an interview. Would this ever be appropriate? I feel like IQ is supposed to be a well kept secret, but maybe it would be appropriate in certain careers that are more technically oriented. (I know that I can' t mention my ADHD)

I would not mention it on the resume, if I were you. First, it looks presumptuous. Second, it's going to invite questions such as "If you're so smart, how come your career hasn't taken off?" I am not trying to be sarcastic, but wanted to give you frank feedback.

Are you doing something for the ADHD part? If you take care of it, I think that things will improve by themselves.

You shouldn' t include your IQ on your resume. Instead, keep your resume focused oncontributions to your employers, skills relevant to your career goal, andrelated academic/training credentials.
