Can I use this somehowI'm not sure where to post this topic, but I would like to use this somehow, just don't know where. I did some freelance design work for a small company, the woman who I dealt with was wonderful. She would say the nicest things about my work in the email, which I printed out to use. I only did work for them for a short time. I need another boss like this one, just wonderful. Here's some of the quotes: "I love it! you are really good...We are so blessed to have found you...or you found us. Good job! We love your work!!" "I think it looks great! Thanks so much for your hard work!! You are such a blessing to us here at ABC Co. We really love your work. Thanks so much for doing this so quickly." "Everyone thinks these are one our most beautiful items. We are going to put it on our website. Thanks so much for your hard work on this. Hope you enjoy seeing the fruit of your labor." How can I use this to show employers that I can do good work?
Maybe you can somehow include the quotes from your client's on the work you did in your portfolio when you present them to employers. Of course, you will want to ask your client for permission to use the quotes.
Nice testimonials! You can edit them and use short excerpts on your resume. There are a few ways to do this - add a "Testimonials" section, incorporate in bullets under the job description, or include in your Qualifications Summary. Perfect, I like that idea! What's interesting is that I just emailed the lady yesterday (upon seeing one of my designs on her website) and she was telling me what a great designer I was. I haven't been in touch with her in a year. Now I just need to find room on my resume to squeeze that in, it's going to be tight. If you' re tight on space, you can create a Resume Addendum that has testimonials, and maybe other sections such as project highlights, technical toolbox, or anything else that might have gotten squeezed out of your main resume. Here' s a random thought - what about a website for yourself, where you can display a virtual portfolio and testimonials like those wonderful words, then include a URL on your resume at an obvious place? Being as design is so visual, this would be another "sell" feature, no?
True, but that will take a while to do and I need something now. I'm more print design, not very good at web yet. I will get into more of that later on. One thing at a time. Don't want to whip something together quickly and have it looking cheesy.
I think you should put foxinsox' s idea on your "to-do" list. I agree that you shouldn' t slap it together, but a website for a designer (and many other professionals) is becoming a "must-have" career marketing tool. | |
