Mention In Progress MBA or notI am currently casually looking for another job. I currently have a job so there is no pressure to find a new opportunity right away. I' m currently also enrolled in an MBA program where I am in my second semester. My current employer pays very little towards my MBA education, and I do know that there are other companies out there that would pay much more. However, my desire to find a new role in a new company is not purely driven by finding a company that will pay more towards my MBA. I' m really looking for a job closer to home that might be in a small company. So - my question is - should I mention on my resume that I have started my MBA? I don' t want future employers to be turned off by two factors (1) The assumption that I might not be able to give 100% to the job if I' m busy with school at night, and (2) that they think I' m looking for a company that will pay for my MBA. For now, I have left it off, but I just wanted to see if anyone else had any good pros or cons to this approach. I would include it -- I think it shows that you' re dedicated to ongoing education, and an MBA would only benefit the company that hires you. Tuition reimbursement can be something you negotiate along with your total compensation package when a job offer is on the table. It shouldn' t be a turnoff now, unless a company is against education. Your cover letter can mention that you' re pursuing this part time at night or weekends so the program doesn' t interfere with work. | |
