How do I deal with firingMy old boss hated me from the get-go, and although my work was good, I got fired, I believe, unfairly. I' m considering legal action against my employer, but in the meantime, how do I handle this on my resume? I am the one for always include it because you will need to include it on an application anyway. If you were there a shorter time can leave off the resume. Resume is a marketing tool so use it as that. When filling out an application you can put no you can not contact that employer. Chances are if they contact that employer and there is a legal suit out there they will not say anything anyway. I WAS LET GO AFTER 24 YEARS I AM 50 YEARS OLD AND I FILL LIKE NO ONE WOULD HIRE ME. THEY SAID I WAS LET GO BECASUE OF JOB PERFORMACE, AND I WAS TOLD ONLY ONE TIME THEY NEVER GAVE ME A CHANCE TO FIX THE PROBLEM, I FEEL LIKE IT WAS SOMTHING ELS I AM LOOKING IN TO GETTING A ATTORNEY.
It took them 24 years to find out you had poor job performance? My old and great last company tried to do this to a guy that has been with them 18 years. He is old and he can not work the pace or really even do his job because of his age. I heard my foreman telling a co working that if that guy can't do his job he needs to find a new one. well that guy is still there. I'm really not sure how this can be handled. It is unfair to him. I left that same company because of my age. I was 22 and the next in line was 38 and I was making a couple of bucks more than those guys. they would always put me down and make smart comments. My problem is that I didn't stand up for myself and nip it in the bud when it first happened. Age discrimination is hard to prove. I didn't bother with any legal action it would take a few years to resolve and at the end it's your word against mine. unless you have hard core proof. | |
