help plz, how 2 list temp agenciesSince this request was written, I' ve had 3 more agencies call me for work... do I just generalize? do I list the agencies one by one? I really would like some input on this. I have been working for 2 different staffing/temp agencies, and don' t know how to ' list' them on my resume. Since the next opportunity may come from yet another agency, I want to do the right thing when updating my resume. Currently, my most recent job listed ended Nov ' 06, I need to update this, because I have been on the temp circuit since then. A good strategy for you is to combine the two temp agencies under one employment heading, like this: Job Title (or equivalent) - ABC Tempco & DEF Tempco, overall dates Key accomplishments:
Be sure to list your most impressive contributions - treat the experience like a regular job. I just got a call from a new agency, and the rep was interested in what I had done, and where, in my temp interim... When I told her (the ones that I could remember), she suggested that I put a breakdown with the times and clients. She said that even a 3 month #### was good to show. I had spent 1 yr with one client, and also had returned to a former employer for 4 months to #### in a conversion. She said "put it down so people can see it", and that it would make a difference in placements. Since you had given me the outline to do just that, I could confidently tell her that I was in the midst of updating my resume with that info! We' ll be meeting tomorrow a.m. and I' ll take it from there. Sometimes I have to remind myself, that working for an agency is financially beneficial for the both of us. I' m such a loyal employee, in any job situation, I almost feel like I' m cheating by going to multiple agencies. Actually, I hope for the highest bidder. Although, last #### I took a dollar less / hr than I like to start with, in the hopes of getting a perm position for a large well known company that I wanted to work for. Turns out, I' m glad it was temp, I don' t feel I belong in their environment! | |
