RESUME CRITQUEI'm new here and would like a critque on my resume i've been in the "workforce" for 5 yrs. I've worked mostly retail jobs and currently a sports stadium(part-time) My Resume CAREER OBJECTIVE: To work for a challenging company which offers professional development and growth potential to further build my career training and expereince to benefit the employer and advance my career. SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES: -Work well under pressure within a fast-paced environment -Follow direction and work productively without supervision -Strong working relationships at all levels -Known for getting the job done efficiently and correctly, and putting in the hours needed. -Excellent communcation and interpersonal skills. *in my job expereince i've been in-between job from 2003 to present * Then i have my Education and a co-op job experience that i did while in high school to learn about the job force that is under my work expereince. Under Education i have my volunteer expereince one in 1998 and another in 2002 Under Volunteer Experience i have my functional skills. P.S. What is it that you can do.
First please capitoize I, the small i is not good on a resume.
1. Your Career Objective says nothing. It needs to state whay kind of position you're looking for - marketing, retail, whatever. And "experience" is misspelled there (and two other places in your resume). 2. "Communication" is misspelled. 3. What does this mean: *in my job expereince i've been in-between job from 2003 to present * Have you been unemployed for five years? 4. What does this mean: Under Education i have my volunteer expereince one in 1998 and another in 2002 Under Volunteer Experience i have my functional skills. Under Education, you do not put experience, volunteer or otherwise - you put EDUCATION. Under Volunteer Experience, you out volunteer experience. 5. Where's your work experience? That's a critical part of a resume. 6. Bluntly, I would delete the "excellent communication skills" from your resume. i didnt feel like typing out my job experince and the jobs i've worked out its a litte too much. No i have not been unemployed for five yrs i meant to say while im working one job im still looking for another. I've had many differnet jobs through those yrs while still working. You confused me with the volunteer experince and education. Do i put the volunteer expereince first then my education or vise versa or do i get rid of vounteer expereince. For my education i realy think its important that i keep my high school co-op job that i worked. What do you think?
What the heck do you mean it's a little much to include your experience? It should be the major part of your resume - do you want a free resume critique or don't you? And I assume you DO know how to use a copy and paste? You put your best material first. For most, that's the work experience. Again, if you feel your HS job is important, put it in. But as WORK EXPERIENCE, NOT as education. Got it? If this is a straight cut-and-paste you need some help. First of all, I would use the spellcheck function of Word. Actually before that, I would probably check out Monster's (or another website) resume templates. Check your spelling! It's not copy and paste i dont know how to do that. My resume does not look like that. If you what to see my resume give me your email address so we can stop this stupid banter back and forth. I'm asking for your help and you haven't given me once helpful suggestion.
I'm willing to retract the statement about the formatting; I had the same problem. As far as helpful comments are concerned, I think the most helpful one was the spellcheck one. Please check over your resume using the spellcheck function. If you don't have Word, I'm sure you can find a freeware program or a program online that can help you check over the spelling in your resume. | |
