The position is Satellite Technician and I tried to find sample resumes but, what category would this position fall under? Can someone critique my resume please?
1. Your Objective basically gives three strengths and asks the reader to figure out what you're good for. Also, "multilayer" is not a word. Make up separate resumes, each with a different Objective. One as an assembly foreman/supervisor, one as a janitorial manager, etc. 2. Generally, too chatty. A resume should use words sparingly. For example, your Brunswick experience should read something like Cleaned Automatic Pinsetters and fixed maintenance problems. Fixed scoring overheads/touchscreens, oiled lanes and performed other customerservice tasks. Your statement "In addition to this I often interacted with many peopleoften answering questions to young and older people alike" is confusing. The ages should not be mentioned - the important things are, what KINDS of questions did you answer, and FROM WHOM - customers, other techs, who? 3. Your janitorial experience: Scheduled appointments , took field surveys of customer satisfaction, did marketing/promotion, and purchasing. Then just explain how you marketed and what the results were. 4. Drop the high school. That's assumed.
So basically should I just change my objective to : To obtain a position as a Satellite Technician? I should put specific questions that I was asked on the resume? Then I should I put how I marketed for the company and the results on the resume or should I explain if he asks me during the interview? Drop the High School?I haven't obtained any further education yet so I shouldn't have anything to deal with school on it period?
1. Absolutely. I had no clue you wanted a position as a sat tech. Try either: A position as a satellite technician, or A position as a satellite technician utilizing my... and then mention ONE or TWO qualifications briefly such as "my XX years experince as a XX". 2. I don't know what you mean about being asked specific questions. The resume's only purpose is to get you an interview, so if you;re already speaking with the company, the resume's done its job already. 3. During the interview, you wil not explain the mechanics of the resume. The sort of question you could expect is, "So I see when you worked for XX< you oversaw four people. Tell me about that." 4. The resume is a sales document. If you had a degee, I'd add it in. I suggest removing HS degrees. In your case, a HS nondegree won't give you an edge for getting the job - leave it off.
Nosy question - are you applying at DirecTV, Dish Network, or a contractor for either of those companies? I work for EchoStar (Dish Network).
Yes,MasTec is a contractor for DirecTV.Maybe you can give me some more tips on what the interview may be like?lol Wow
