Resume Position To or Not To

I recently relocated from the Midwest to Arizona after working 20+ years at one company.  I have had 2 positions in AZ - one the distance was too far as I later learned from my home and the other was a most definitely not a fit - it lasted only 2 months - do I put it on a resume or not - don't want to "fib" where I have been.  blush
Hi jdrazy,

I would lean towards including the experience andfocusing on the positive aspects of the job -- skills developed and accomplishments. If you're asked to fill out a job application that asks for a completecareer history, you will need to include the position (which could come up during a background check and employers might wonder why you omitted it).

You can briefly explain that the position wasn't a good fit in your cover letter, but be sure to focus on why the position you're applying for is a good fit.

Best wishes,

Dear Hiring Executive

Our relocation from the Midwest to Arizona within the last year has given me needed time to regroup and familiarize myself to a new environment. I am now ready to return to the job market and have been actively researching potential opportunities as an Executive / Administrative Assistant in Arizona. Your advertisement for the position of ____________, as seen on ______________ site caught my attention.

As a responsible and dedicated office professional, I bring a maturity level to this position that has been developed through extensive experience and a solid work history. I understand the team concept of combining experience, business insight, technical knowledge, and the team spirit to achieve improved operating for the institution as a whole through my role(s).

Being a competitive person professionally, I have kept current with Microsoft applications at an intermediate level and advanced skills required to exceed expectations and establish position parameters for measuring performance by results.

Please find enclosed a copy of my resume. I look forward to discussing possible ways you feel my background and skills would benefit your organization. I know that resumes help sort the probables from the possibles, but cannot determine the caliber of an individual. May I suggest a personal meeting where you can have the opportunity to examine the person behind the resume? I look forward to speaking with you and your colleagues at your earliest convenience. Thank you for your time. Please feel free to contact me at either of the telephone numbers indicated on my resume.

Regards
