Changing CareersI am a 16-yr veteran Realtor that needs a new 'Professional Home'. What thoughts can you all offer on downplaying the real estate aspect of my background and center-staging my skills in client service/satisfaction, contract and detail management, marekting/advertising and team leadership. I do not want to pursue a new outside sales position. My goal is to move my skills into a sales trainer or a relocation coordinator position within a larger corporate environment. Any thoughts? Comments? Suggestions?
Hi Dewwetalk, It sounds like you're on the road to highlighting your transferable skills for a new career! For your sales trainer resume, create a Qualifications Summary that emphasizes your background in sales and training, and then draw out your related accomplishments from your real estate career. You should probably have a different resume for relocation coordinator positions (different skill-set), but you should do the same thing -- a Qualifications Summary highlighting your related credentials, and a work history that focuses on your expertise and accomplishments relating to relocation and management. Good luck in your career transition! Kim Isaacs The Resume Expert | |
