Should I list the highest position

In my recent past, I worked for a company that was acquired.  As a result of the acquisition, my position changed to a lower position.  Should I still use the highest position obtained?  Would it be better to break them out separately?  I am concerned about the perception of moving backwards.  Thanks

Use the higher position, particularly if you spent most of your time in it.  In the unlikely event a potential employer checks and questions it, explain the circumstances.
