I REALLY need some help pleaseI could really use some help with my resume - my main problem is that I have hardly anything substantial to include because I never had an opportunity to do internships or anything extra-curricular; I didn't have the time. All I could do was go to college and work full-time. So if anybody can give me some pointers on what else I could possibly include to attract employers and I can finally get out of my crappy job I have now, I will be grateful. The personal info has been deleted, of course. Thank you. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OBJECTIVE To secure a positionat a company where my education and work experience can be most beneficial.

Blazers800, I'm just skimming your resume. To me, it appears to have no direction. What do you want to do? Do you want to go into communications? Do you want to go into sales or marketing? I'm guessing you don't want to stay working in customer service at a call center. Based on your duties, I'm guessing that's your current job. Correct me if I'm wrong. My advice would be to start at the beginning. First you need to decide what you would like to pursue. What are your interests? If you looking for another job, any job....to get out of this job, you may end up in a worse situation. Start with the basics: 1. Read What Color is Your Parachute by Richard Nelson Bolles -- a must read for any job seeker. You can purchase one at the bookstore, or pick up a used copy, or check it out from the library. 2. Start to read and study some resume books: A couple that I have found helpful. There are others out there. You may want to start at your library first.
As of this point, I'm not sure I can give anymore advice than this, because what direction you decide to pursue and skills does determine on some level what goes into your resume and what you leave out. Best of Luck! Since your background is limited, you need to describe what your real desires/aspirations are....what do you want? And then try to show how hard working you are (went to school and worked full time....that's determination). ......and that you are willing to start at the beginning (aka bottom). Good luck!!! | |
