Extensive experienceWhat is the best way to prevent preconceived ideas for those of us that are more experienced and have grey hair? I seem to be judged because I have more than 34 years of experience. More companies seem to want to have younger engineers that they can mold to their employees. A SeasonedQE
I'm 51. I hear you. There are two answers to this: the resume and the interview. Resume: Generally, don't go back much more than ten years. Drop dates from schooling. Interview: Show energy. Expect to state that you still enjoy learning new things and show familiarity with the latest trends. Thanks Steven8322, I seldom get the chance to interview. I think that the front office has seen my resume that states what you said not to display. I will update it and go back ten years. Good suggestion SeasonedQE
Great advice here -- employers are most interested in your recent accomplishments (10-15 years back or so). Here's a link to an article on the subject: by John Rossheim Best wishes, Kim Isaacs The Resume Expert | |
