Listing very short term temp assignmentsI've been temping at two companies for the past year and a half. The longest assignment I was given was seven weeks. Typically, the assignments were more like two weeks. Also, the jobs I performed in these assignments varied greatly from typical admin work to data entry to helping with planning for conferences etc. I was wondering the best way to list these jobs. I can't just list them by role because each job is so different. I don't want to over-emphasize the briefness of each assignment either or alternately give the wrong impression that I was there longer than I was. What's the best way of being accurate without selling myself short?
Hi Kileykb, I think it would work best if you grouped your temp assignments under one section, and then provided the highlights of your assignments. You don't need to include all of them, just the ones that demonstrate the skills you are trying to market on your resume. You don't need to include the amount of time on each assignment, either. Your experience can be formatted something like this: Office/Clerical Assignments - ABC Agency & DEF Agency - 12/05 to present Describe the scope of your duties and the diversity of your assignments, followed by a bulleted list of your most impressive accomplishments. Best wishes for a successful job search! Kim Isaacs The Resume Expert | |
