I need resume help, I have 9yrs experience as an Engineering Technician with No Degree. Thank you for your time.
I am a quality-oriented self-starter who works well, both independently and in a team environment, with over 30 years of experience working in the manufacturing industry.
, NY 2002 – Present
Diamond Machining Technician
• Responsible for prototype and production fabrication, which includes set-up, writing programs and operation of Diamond turning lathes; fly cutters, and ruling engines. Producing optical master tools including Fresnel, linticular, and cylinder lens geometry.
• Lead the development of a key diamond turning process; working together with other technicians, we achieved over 60% reduction in cycle time and significantly increased quality and yields. Received a stock option award in recognition of my achievements on this project.
• Continuous process improvement in regards to all aspects of diamond machining.
• Unusually high degree of patience, tenacity and tolerance for repeated effort sometimes required in order to achieve success in the manufacturing of diamond machined products.
• Metrology equipment used includes; Zygo New View 200, Zygo PTI interferometer, measuring microscopes, and facet angle measuring system.
• Training on the Philip Crosby Quality Education System. Member of the Quality Improvement Team, which serves all departments in the facility.
Corning Rochester Photonics, Rochester NY 1997 - 2002
Engineering Technician 2000 - 2002
• Member of a product development team (Kestrel) tasked with developing a manufacturing system for a new telecommunications product; responsibilities included equipment procurement and qualification, process development and support, customer/vendor communication, process documentation, and transfer of product line to manufacturing department. Team achieved 100% delivery to promise.
• Utilized design of experiments and problem solving techniques to develop stable processes and process yields on a Micro-assembly Mfg product line: resulting yield increased 15%. Processes include Wire bonding, Eutectic and Epoxy Die bonding, Functional test station, Wire pull and Die shear testing.
• Planned, directed and executed product line move to new facility; interfaced with construction and facility teams to ensure all service needs were in place; moved set-up, and qualified equipment in one-half the scheduled time.
• Instituted an equipment preventive maintenance program for Kestrel manufacturing line; created and documented ISO 900 compatible PM schedules and procedures.
• Mechanical support to Micro-assembly work center; designed, built, and improved fixtures to enhance process speed, address ergonomic safety issues, and facilitate assembly of microscopic components.
• Organized and led an Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Team whose goals included the implementation of a company-wide ESD program, documentation, training, monitoring, and auditing. ESD team progress directly correlated to a yield increase in previously non-resolvable problems with PIN photodiode processing.
• Engineering representative in company wide activities such as: 1st Aid Response, and Clean-room Team member.
Diamond Turning Technician 1997-2000
• Responsible for prototype and short run production, which included set-up, program modification, and operation of Diamond Turning Lathes to produce Optic Lenses, Lens Mold Inserts, and mirrors.
• Initiated improvements for Diamond Turning processes, resulting in surface roughness of 20Å - 30Å typical on nickel and surface flatness improvement from 6 fringes to 1/4 fringe on metals. Materials included: Nickel plating, Aluminum, Germanium, and Plastics. Surface geometries included sphere, aspheric, Plano, and diffractive.
• Trained and experienced in a variety of metrology equipment including: Zygo PTI interferometer, Zygo New View 100 and 5000, Nomarski measuring microscope, and Talysurf surface profiler.
Additional Work Experience: (details provided upon request) 1981 – 1997

Software:
• AutoCAD R14, Mini-Tab, Microsoft Excel and Word.
Danged impressive resume. But I believe the proper spelling is "lenticular".
My suggestion - your resume as written is perfect for an optical/diamond tech. I'd write a few others for other positions in your NY area. Is there a disk drive or tape storage company that is local to you? In my area (close to Boulder, Colorado), there are lots of companies like that. Possibly environmental testing.
Each one of the other resumes would emphasize your transferable skills, such as your process improvement achievements.
Thanks for your help! I will get going on more variations of my resume, and will change that misspelling! No, there are no Disk or Tape storage companies in this area, I wish there were.
I used to live in Louisville, CO (78 - 81), we were in Boulder in 2002, wow has it changed!
Thanks again, Les
