Your Monster Resume My Be Hurting You

frown Have you ever used quick apply to submit to a job vacancy? If so, your profile which accompanies your resume may say that you will NOT work overtime hours. I discovered this today and learned from a Monster customer support chat that there is nothing that I can do to change this. A statement like that can well be the kiss of death when attempting to secure employment. I have pasted the conversation below. Please, check your complete resume/profile as the employer sees it before using monster to send it out.

Also, I would like to hear back from others that may be experiencing this problem.

Cheers and good luck with your searches! smile

Hi WSN28

I am sorry you had that problem but you can add that on to your resume as you edit it here......
http://my.monster.com/resume/listresumes.aspx

In any section you feel would be the correct place to mention it.

Sometimes you have to add on addition information in certain sectionsthat are not mentioned in our Resume Builder. I have :)  Pick thebest place.........

Hope this helps!

MCCathy,

Thanks for your feedback, but I believe you missed my point.

  1. The point is that Monster is adding things to the profile that accompany my resume that are not correct and that were not approved by me.
  2. Saying I am unwilling to work overtime is a red flag for a smart HR manager and will surely eliminate my resume from consideration.
  3. Now if I use a Monster resume, I am forced to use space in my precious cover letter explaining why something that is inaccurate is included in the information the employer receives. Otherwise, it looks as if an error is in my resume and that I am responsible for that - which makes me look less than professional.

NOW THE GOOD NEWS FOR ALL!

I received an email from Rajesh with customer support. He gave me a link to another Monster site that acutally allowed me to correct the problem!  Here is the link for anyone else that may need to resolve this issue. Either way, you should log in here and check your resumes just to be sure this is not happening to you. The section that you will need to check will be located at the bottom of the page in the edit resume mode and is titled RELATED INFO.

Kudos to Rajesh Kumar V for being on top of things and knowing how to resolve a customer issue professionally and quickly!

Thanks
