Updating resume question

Hi - I have a question about re-writting and updating my resume.

Until I went back to graduate school I had been working full-time positions.  However, during graduate school I had two different jobs (both year long, assistantship positions) at the university; when I graduated I worked a series of short-term contract work jobs (over the past year and a half- 6 months of which I did not work and I am now again working a short-term contract position).

How do I indicate on my resume the difference between jobs I have had that were full-time and those that have been short-term contract and the assistantship positions?

Thanks!
Hi followbliss,

You can group your contract work under one header and indicate the contract nature of your assignments so it doesn't look like you've been job-hopping. Your header can include the job title or specialty area, like: "Programmer - Consultant, 2005 to Present." In your description, state that you've been completing contract assignments in your specialty area, followed by a bulleted list of your top assignments. Include the company (or type of company if confidential), reason for contracting your services, scope of your project, challenges/obstacles faced, work performed, and results/benefits to the company.

Best wishes,
