Best font for resume
Hi All, I'm re-working my resume, any opinions on the best font (name and pt. size) to use? I usually prefer something conservative / traditional. Let me know what you guys think? Sean
I recomend choosing a font that is easy to read from two feet away for the body of your resume like Times New Roman. For the title ( like your name and address) use something a little fancier like Book Antiqua, Calisto, or any Serif font....Ok, ok I'll explain. Garamond and Times New Roman are serif fonts. Personally it reminds me of the victorian era. Everything is fancy and very marticulate. It has serifs at the end of the strokes or tails, flags, and end strokes. Specificly look at the lower case a's in Garamond and TMR and look at thoes tails. Now look at the small 'r' in Garamond and the lower case s in TMR. See the seriffs. That's what you should look for when your creating the body of your resume. Not only is it easy to read but it looks professional. But make sure you choose a serif that's not too fancy like BlackladderITC or Caligraph421. Then you have sans serif fonts. Thoes fonts dont have serifs at the end of strokes, tails or flags. They're your modern fonts. Arial, Tahoma, and Verdana are your examples. They're also good for creating the body of your resume and the hedder but it might be a little too casual for a resume. And remember to mix and mach the two font styles. You should limit yourself to only two fonts or just stick with one font. And remember, dont go too crazy. :D
