Letter of RecommendationI have been working in healthcare for the past 12 years. I am currently obtaining an MBA in Accounting, 6 months to go, with VERY little experience. My question is, on my resume, is it best to just list references or to use letters of recommendation? Does one have more weight than the other?
Your references shouldn't be included on your resume. Instead, create aseparate document (the header might read "Professional ReferenceList") and follow with your references' names, addresses, phone numbers, and e-mail addresses. You may also provide a brief synopsis of yourrelationship with the reference and the number of years you have been acquainted. Employers often ask for the contact information for several references before extending a job offer, so it's good to have your list ready to go. Reference letters are good to have, but employers are usually not interested in them until later in the hiring process. A great strategy is to include some of the strongest excerpts from your letters in your resume or cover letter. Best wishes, Kim Isaacs The Resume Expert
