No experience resumeFor the past few months I've been looking for a full time job in customer service and just recently my friend has told me that her place of employment is hiring. Now she works for an eye doctor as a scribe. This would be the same position I'd be applying for. Her boss asked her if she knew anyone looking for a job and she mentioned that I am. He told her to have me fax over my resume to him. My problem is how do I write my resume to impress him when I have no experience in this line of work. I've been a cashier for three years with training as a booth clerk and head cashier. I'm just lost at figuring out how to sell myself to this employer. Please help!
First and foremost...a question: did you friend, at the moment she applied for this job herself, have the experience she needed :) This might actually answer a part of your worries :) OK...now about the experience...It is in the twisting of words that you can build a strong resume which can catch the eye of a doctor even if you worked as a cashier. If it helps you, I worked as a volunteer for the Give the Gift of Sight foundation (you might have heard about it) and I had nooo experience. I gained in 2 (two that is) days of full work the experience of an oftalmologist's assistant. :)) So....be ready to leard an there will be no problem. Good luck! Section of post does not conform with Monster TOU My friend actually did not have the experience when she applied. Her mother had referred her to the job. Now she is referring me. (She was a manager at McDonalds for three years).
Thank you for that link its going to help me out. Now I just need luck for getting the job and wowing them with my resume!
Do you have any education or done anything at all that relates?
Not really. I took liberal arts while I was attending college. I ended up having to quit college cause I couldn't afford it on my own. So I've been working in retail for the last three years. Customer service is the only major thing I have in common. | |
