went back to school

Prior to the current job I've had for a year, I took a year off from May 2005-May 2006 after moving out of state to finish my degree.  I am now looking for another job and trying to figure out how to best word the "time off" on my resume.  Any suggestions?  I don't want to just say, "took a year off to get my degree".
I don't see why not.  What else are you going to say?

You don't put reasons for gaps in employment on a resume, unless they specifically ask you to do it.  That's something that will be raised during an interview.

It will be obvious to the employer that you were a working student when they see the dates of the schools and your work.  And since it's not all that unusual for a student to decide to devote more time to their schooling, it's not going to be perceived as a negative or a big deal at all.

And you've got a good excuse for the gap that can be mentioned during the interview.  You moved out of state to attend a different school, and so you needed some time to get settled, look for work, and adjust to life there.  Perfectly understandable!

If the degree you obtained relevant to the job requirement, I don't see there should be a problem at all.
If you include your degree dates, employers will see that you've been attending school and that will account for the employment gap. To reinforce that you'vebeen in a full-time academic program, you can mention your studies in your Qualifications Summary(something like: Dedicated to ongoing professional development - recently completedfull-time bachelor's degree in _____).
