Resume Questions

Hi, everybody! I have two questions about fixing my resume; first of all, how do you make your resume be one page, instead of two pages in Microsoft Word? Because I showed my resume to a career counselor and she said that my resume has to be one page; not two pages. So, I changed the font sizes to 12 and 11 and I deleted extra spaces in my resume; but, I still have two pages. Therefore, what else can I do to make my resume one page instead of two pages?
Also, the career counselor told me to center my contact information and I did it; but when I centered it, my objective column also became centered. Therefore how do I fix my objective column, so that only my contact information is centered?

There isn't an automatic way to make things fit onto one page in MS Word.  And while a one page resume is better, it's ok to go to at most a 1 1/2 pages if you have a great deal of experience.

But there are a couple of things you can do to cut things down.  First, you may want to delete the objective entirely if it's something thats rather general such as "Looking for a position that uses my skills."  In this case, the objective is simply a given as every job seeker would like a job that uses his or her skills.

Perhaps you're repeating information from one job to another.  For example, if you've done similar things at multiple jobs, you only need to list it once or twice, and not every time.  And maybe you can combine some things into one to conserve space.

And as far as your contact info goes, you can always try reformatting it to put say the phone and email addresses on the same line.  I've also done the same thing with the address itself.  This way, your contact info really only takes up 3 lines instead of more.
