career change resumeI am currently at a high end hotel sales manager position with too much stress and too much competition with other properties in the area. I' ve had enough and I' m looking for something with less stress and not so much responsbility and commitment. I still need to work and carry benefits, but my question is. I' ve had several interviews for sales positions, which I' m not sure I want to stay in, I' m thinking of just going back to an office position for administrative, or recepitionist. So with that in mind I' ve gotten responses like "well it seems like your more geared for sales than admin? How do I show that on my resume? I' m currently a Sales Manager ,but have expertise in any type of Administrative office position that' s out there or customer service?
Do you currently do administrative work in your position? Then put your experience into your resume. Show you aren't just about sales but have payroll, time management, clerical experience, etc.....make the "sales" portion of the job seem insignificant to the other work.
Focus on the administrative aspects of your current job to show that you would excel in an admin role. Hiring managers looking at your resume will see a sales professional unless you position yourself differently. The key is to focus on transferable skills and accomplishments -- skills you' ve developed throughout your career that would be related to your new goal.
