A change in industry

I've worked in the semiconductor manufacturing industry for 10 years. I'd like to make a jump to a green energy company, i.e. wind or solar.

How can I pad my resume to make myself more appealing to an industry in which I have no DIRECT experience?

It's not uncommon to switch fields during one working life, and when you do, you most likely have little or no experience in the new field.  And this is the case with you, where you have no experience in it at all.  So what do you do?  Simple, you focus on those transferrable skills.  Things that are used in nearly anything and everything, plus those things that could be considered inter-related.

For example, customer service is customer service, no matter which industry you did it in.  I used to work in a bank, and now I teach, but customer service is still providing service to your customers.  But today, my customers are my students who pay to learn.  But I still do many of the same things I did while working in banking, such as answering their questions and resolving problems.

My point is that you need to look at those things you have done in your career that can transfer over to the new area.
