cvrlttr and resume
After many years with my prior employer, the corporation ceased business operations. Taking a year hiatus from working, I used this opportunity to care for my pre-kindergarten-aged son and enroll into courses to complete an Associates Degree in Business Administration Also, I have three more classes until I finsih my degree, how do I address it on my resume? Thanks!
Way too wordy and employers may be leery of hiring you if they know you have a youngun at home (sorry, but that's reality). Try instead I have used the past year to study for my Associates in Business Administration, anticipated in August 2007, and am now ready to reenter the workforce. Those things aren't really addressed on the resume, but rather in an interview, and perhaps your cover letter. The resume would simply list your work up to your hiatus and your schooling in a separate section. The employer will be able to see that you took time off from work and began schooling. And taking time off to raise kids and futher one's education are perfectly legitimate reasons that an employer will understand. But it's not something you mention on a resume because the focus on a resume is what you can do for me--the skills and experience you bring to the table! | |
