An At Home Business On ResumeI'm a stay at home mom and found a way to make extra money...doing resumes. I do resumes for friends/family or people who are referred to me by friends/family and get paid. I do the actual resume plus post online, set them up with an email address (for those who do not have one), set up job alerts for them. I'm also starting to do cover letters and thank you letters for those who just don't know or what to put in these letters. I'm just starting out, but making a little money. Every little bit helps. My question is about my own resume. Can I put this type of at-home job on my resume and how should I do it? Currently, my job experiences are listed like this: 05/2005-07/2005 Company Name City, State Job Title * Job duty * Job duty
Since this is just an at-home pursuit, I can't exactly list a company name. I want to put thi on my resume since it shows I have been doing something to further my career. Any suggestions?
I ran a resume service myself, but wasn't able to get enough clients to pay its way. Here's how I listed it: NAME OF RESUME SERVICE, Lafayetteand Colorado Springs, CO 2002 - Present Owner/President Marketedbusiness through seminar presentations before libraries and professionalsocieties, cold calling of acquaintances, and paid advertising in targetedprofessional newsletters. Sold servicesto clients. Analyzed equipment needs,purchased equipment, and installed software. Provided outstanding service to clients. Purchased domain name and hosting service, wrote copy and layout for website. Contracted out web sitedevelopment, and maintained web site using FTP. Wrote book on jobhunting, and self-published book using a novel methodof making it downloadable directly from the web site. In other words, treat it exactly like any other job. | |
