Resume question

I am updating my resume after being at the same position for 6+ years.  This was my 2nd job out of college.  How far back should I go in my job history.  My 1st position out of college, I was only there for about 8 months.  Also, if I were to list it, none of the managers that were there are there now.  Advice?

List it. It doesn't matter how long you've been there, it doesn't matter that the managers don't work in there anymore. List your job because it is part of your work history, right? Don't worry about the value of your experience being decreased from various reasons, because it won't, if you word it correctly:
Would you rather have an experience of 8 months of a gap in employment of 8 months?

Section of post does not conform with Monster TOU

Difficult call.

Did you leave on good terms?  Why did you leave after such a short time?

How applicable is the experience from that job, to the ones you're applying for now?
I left on great terms.  But, I had an oppurtunity to move up very quickly.
I think you should list it to show your complete work history. Most entry-level workers leave their first post-college jobs within a couple of years, so leaving after eight months is not a big deal. Plus, you have six years with your current employer.

Thank you.

What about the fact I won't have any references from that job?

Can you track down former managers? You can use them even if they've moved on to new jobs.

If not, it shouldn't be a big deal -- if asked, just explain that your former managers have changed jobs and you lost contact with them.

Best wishes,
Kim
