My address different than on resume

Is it ethical/acceptable to use someone else's address on one's resume? I'd really like to relocate to the city next to where a family member currently lives, but I currently live about 1000 miles from there. I'm beginning to think that, when I apply on-line, my applications are possibly skipped electronically, due to my current address and the potential employer's reluctance to offer a huge relocation package.

Since moving for me would involve only packing up my stuff and leaving (once my lease is up in a few months)... no trailing spouse, no real estate to sell, etc., my moving expenses will be considerably less than what I think may be average. Therefore, though I'd like to have assistance from an employer, I'd be willing to pay for the move if I have the right job lined up when I get there.

That being the case, would it be ethical for me to use my relative's address on my resume/cover letter/online application/whatever, then explain the true situation to the first human being I encounter, once I get that far?

Every contact I have had regarding a resume has been to my email or phone.  The address means nothing.

Go for it and see what happens.  It's not like you are misrepsenting your education or work experience.  Tell them that you intend to move to that area in June (or whenver) and so you decided to use a local address.  No biggie.
