Simultaneous Jobs on Resume

When working for two jobs simultaneously, how do you list this on your resume? Currently, I have jobs on my resume listed as follows (as an example):

Job 1: 05/1998-05/2003

Job 2: 2000-2002

Job 3: 1988-1997

To me it seems that Job 2 throws off the flow of the resume, going from year-to-year. Also, Job 2 was only a contracting position, not an actual employee that was work in addition to regular job at Job 1. Does this make a difference? I'm wondering, since Job 2 was only a contractor position, is there some place else it can be put on the resume. Maybe at the end of the resume, I can put in "Additional Information" or something like that. Job 2 should go on the resume, but doesn't seem to fit in a typical location on a resume. Any suggestions?

Your questions are excellent, and the answer depends on what you're trying to emphasize on your resume. For example, if the contracting work is more related to your current goal than your other jobs and you have some strong accomplishments, you should leave it in the Experience section and really play it up.

If your current job is related to your objective and your contract work just supplements it, you can move the contract work to another section so you don't disrupt the "flow" of your experience. You can create a "Freelance" or "Contract Work" section (or use Monster's Additional Information section) to highlight your contract jobs, and be sure to only focus on the skills and accomplishments that are relevant to your goal.
