Bkground Ck Need Help

I did something STUPID a couple years ago for an acquaintance, returned something, which was stolen (unknowingly to me), of course I get caught.  The judge gives me adjudication w/held but it comes up as an arrest.  It is in the process of being expunged.  To add to the complete humiliation of a background checks credit history is a joke (give an 18yr old every credit card you can think of they will use them), and I took care of my father who was ill for 3 years, so I haven't worked since.

In the meantime, I am getting interviews, good ones. In the past 6 weeks,  I went through circles for this last company.  Even to the point where I went through the obsession that I may have to negotiate salary.  Being that this company is worldwide and would have the resources to find out this arrest is adjudicated.  This scenario never crossed my mind, I thought it was in the bag, especially after all that I did, including a drug test!  I know all of my references came through.  Of course, I get the same 'ol letter, "sorry, found someone more qualified".  I then noticed they reposted the job.  It has to be the arrest.  I am at the point where I don't know what to do.  I am completely devastated.  As much as I can give advice to others to keep their head up mine is in the gutter.  My mother thinks I should be upfront in my next interview and explain that something is going to come up on my background check and this is what happened, should I do that?  Or should I just pray I can get a break?  I keep hearing that McDonald commercial and its driving me nuts.  Its hard to keep your head up when so much is hanging over it.  Young and dumb comes back to bite ya, you know where.

It is a good idea to be up front about your background. Just explain what happened, how your life is better now and how you learned from it. Its always best to put a personal spin on things before they look at cold facts on a print out.
I Definitely agree with rozebud11, Honesty is always the best policy. Be upfront with them, and let them know about your past, or you will always be worried about them finding out, and firing you.
