Advice neededI was injured about 4 days into a new job back on 12/6/06. I have since that time been on a workman comp claim. My employer let me go during the probationary period. They are still paying medical which is good and i am receiving comp payments which is also good. I have about another 60 days or so before i can return to work. Since my background has been in Construction sales and Project management and due to the nature of my injury. I am going to have to be looking at a career change. I am not real sure just how to address this issue on a resume. Any help would be appreciated
First step is to figure out what you're going to be doing. Then write an Objective that makes it clear what kind of position you want. Make darn sure that you start looking as soon as you're able to. It makes a really bad impression if your job search starts the day you lose comp payments. In other words, start now. Once you determine what kind of position you want, then make your resume look as applicable as possible. For that, you will need to get an Objective (or maybe more than one), and write up the rest of your resume, and post it here. Steven Thank you for the advice, I am in the process of starting the update now and hopefully applying for a new position shortly. My thought is i will stay in some sort of Construction sales, However after 20+ years of outside sales moving inside will be difficult and a hard sell to some employers. I actually went on an Interview last week and the person wanted to offer me the position, he was afraid i would jump at the first outside position that i was capable of doing. | |
