Career Tips

The hunt continues :)

Well, my contract ended today and I am on the hunt again.  Not a big deal since I am relieved actually now I can kick the interviewing into high gear. I had the phone interview this afternoon for the first round with the County and the guy said "ok this is the last question and this will determine whether you get a second interview or not" so he asked why he should hire me and I told him I was professional, extremely good at my career, I knew computers and their systems in and out and that frankly they would be thrilled to get me to work there cause I would be a terrific asset to them. I reminded him of my terrific longevity history, mentioned team work and all those buzz words they love to hear, but I mean it in my case and I reminded him that I have 25 years under my belt and a degree.  I also told them I was planning on staying with them for 15 years til I retired or so and I was used to getting into a position and moving up and around and overall I was just a great catch. All three of them kind of coughed and I hear the one guy say well, OK then - you hit THAT out of the ballpark big time - HOME RUN ! See ya tomorrow ! lol

I have one job I went for yesterday that I am hoping I get still - third interview with the place and it is in a field that I already worked in for 10 years as senior management team player.  But then I have the interview at 7 in the morning with the Arizona governmental agencies - they want to interview me for 4 jobs at once - 5 people in the panel.  They are actually all coming in an hour early to accommodate my schedule.  Then I go to the first job I had the phone interview for today at 10 and then I am hitting some places cold calling that I have in mind.  I have more interviews line up through next week - all it took was me making some calls on my way home from my contract job and letting people know I was now free and they set me up.

So here I go again - lol - I am going to take my time this time - I was only out of work from the airlines for 3 days before I took this consulting job and I should have taken more time to go on interviews.
Wish me luck and keep fingers and toes crossed.  Updates will come as I know more
