age/gender hindering my search

I know I posted a couple of others, but something just occured to me-- I am a 29 year old woman looking for a job.  (Search began when I was 26 and continues on).  Is it possible that employers are reluctant to hire me because I am at an age when a lot of women start their families and they could possible lose me to maternity leave?

I seriously doubt that your age or gender have anything to do with it. Unless, of course, you are 7 months preggers and rolling through the doors to get to the interview.

If you have been searching for three years, your lack of a position could be due to your interview style, something on your resume or your background check.  Of course, a lot of it has to do with who you are interviewing with and if you have the skills, qualifications and experience needed for the job. Also, the area you are living in and the economy around you. Whether there are a vast number of people applying for the same position or how many jobs are actually being filled.

Many, many things but I truly hope that the people in your area aren' t shallow enough to think the only thing a woman is good for is being barefoot and pregnant.
