how do I get an interview
Ok. After sitting here staring at the computer, weeping and depressed and thoruoghly upset over my most recent rejection, I found a listing for a job that I think I may be qualified to do. I sent in my letter and resume, and I think is was a good letter. I talked myself up and pointed out why I would be a good candidate for the position. So how do I make sure that I get an interview? You sent your letter of interest and your resume. Right now, that is all you can do. Interviews are not a sure thing. It really depends on how many resume's the company gets. The best thing you can do is make sure that your skill set and experience matches what the company wants. If the company states that it wants someone who can type 75 words per minute, knows Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook and your skill set includes only being able to type 40 words per minute, knowing Microsoft Word and Amicus, chances are you will not be at the top of the interview list. This does not mean that you cannot send in your information, but explain in your cover letter that while you haven't had any practical experience with these particulars computer programs, you are very familiar with how they work and what they are primarily used for. (Even if you don't know, look it up so if they ask, you can give them a basic answer) | |
