Is it necessary to include job title

Hi all.  I was wondering....is it absolutely necesssary to include job titles on your resume???  I have worked in some positions where my responsibilities transitioned to the point of not exactly fitting my title anymore.  In those cases although my title remained the same, my pay rate was increased to support those new responsibilities....  I would hate to miss out on a position because the reviewer glanced solely at my job title as opposed to my actual responsibilities.

Thanks in advance for your insight.

Yes.  You can (and should) describe what you did, but titles (accurate ones) are required.

Many times a company will require job responsibilities that differ in nature to what another company requires. However, both jobs are called the same thing.

Many what a company will name a particular job is the same as what another company names a particular job, but the responsibilites of said job are different.

So, yes, it is just as important to include what your job was referred to as it is to list the responsibilities you had.

Actually if you word this right you can use your job titles to your advantage since you can always say that you began as an XXXXX and then got promoted to a NNNNNN - so that includes the job titles in the resume for all to see AND shows that you have been thought of well enough to earn promotions
