follwing up
I applied for a position at a university recently, and in the past when I have applied to the school, and other institutions, for that matter, and followed up with the HR department, all I get is, "Did you receive an email saying we received your resume? If we're interested, we'll call." And then I hear nothing. My resume / cover letter read fine (had it checked out and rewritten several times) but the follow up is my hardest point. In the case of this where I had to send the resume in through an HR department but it's to the head of a certain department, do I follow up with HR or the head of the department? And how would I approach each so I can avoid the "We got it .... CLICK!" treatment? Thanks so much. I really have a burning desire to get this position.
Anyone? Any suggestions? Advice? Please?
Not really much you can do - if they want to talk to you they will call, if not then they wont. Just keep applying online with their career site
You’re in the arena where there is strong competition. Most universities are now sold on the idea of only wanting someone that has completed their doctorate. Clearly there is something missing from your resume that would make you stand out in the crowd. Remember that they receive hundreds of applications and resumes for every job posting. What can you add to your resume that would make someone want to read further? Take some time to think about that and how you can make your resume say read more. | |
