Applied to over 50 jobs,not 1 call ! WTF

Hi Everyone,I have been out of work since last december, I haved been applying to 3-8 jobs a day, I have applied to just about every company within a 50mile radius.,

One lousy Job interview, that I thought went great, but was passed over for somone with more experience.

I have not gotten one call from anywhere I apply! not even a email response back.

I have even applied at
Circuit city,
staples best buy,
Stinkin' K-mart will not even call me!

I'm a IT hardware tech, and Sales, Automotive wheels and tires,Parts etc

What is going on here? Anyone else getting frustrated?, My Wife is ready to fly the coop here becuase I cant find any work.

I understand your frustration. BELIEVE ME!

  • Since you are not getting any calls or interviews may be the problem is your cover letter/resume.
  • Try posting your resume onto the Monster.com message boards and get it critiqued.

  • Avoid applying for jobs you may be "overqualified" for.

I know it is tempting to try to go for the "easy" KMART job, but they may take one look at your resume and assume you will be unhappy with the job and leave at the first chance you get a better position. Thus wasting your time applying to these jobs will only lead to more frustration. This has happened to me.

Try your local employment agency/human services agency. They have professionals there that can help with resumes, job searches, interviews, etc.

I hope this isn' t stating the obvious, but have you tried stores like Kragen and other auto parts stores?

Lastly, hang in there. I don' t know where you live, but I think the job market is tough pretty much anywhere. You' ll find something soon. Best of Luck!

I feel your pain as well. I just got out of the Army after four years of lower level management only to find that I'm too overqualified for entry level jobs and not qualified for upper level jobs.

Plus I'm trying to figure out how to translate my military experience to a civilian job - unfortunately, no one wants a person who did enemy threat analysis for only a year. Plus, all the business analyst positions read more like software programming jobs.

And I can't move. I don't have the money to relocate.
I am sorry to hear that your resume's are not getting a response.  One tip that I would suggest for you is what works for me.  It is the keyword theory.  Take your resume and compare it side by side with the job description you are applying for.  Look for key words in the job description, and make sure those key words are in your resume.  Most companies now days use scanners to sort through resume's.  If the key words they punch in their system, are not in your resume, it will be overlooked.   Hope this helps.
my problem is just the opposite.  i always get calls AND interviews, but never get the job.  i'm always the runner up.  when i finally did get a job, i worked for 3 months and didn't get paid!  WTF!
