Prospective Employer Contact EtiquetteI am just beginning my job search after 7 years with my current employer. My job is in HR at a corporate level and is ending becuase the company has been sold to a firm that took on all employees, except the corporate office. My question: I have come across several job listings on monster that I have applied to and have received some response and actually have two interviews lined up. But I came across one that looks extremely interesting and submitted my resume and cover letter via email. From the ad the job looks perfect and to be exactly what I am looking for. Would it be considered inappropriate to send an FUP email stating my interest in the position? And if not inappropriate, how long after submitting my resume? Keep your eyes on the advertisement. Usually, the employer lets th ad run for a pre-determined amount of time. The day after you notice that it does not appear, compose an email of continued interest. This keeps your name in the front of the mind of the person who is reading the resumes. Some employers read the resumes as they come in and put aside the ones they feel are the most appropriate. (I do that one) Some wait until the end of the run and then read them all at the same time. I used to get calls from people who would say that the ad runs for a few more days but they want to start making appointments with their favorites so far. | |
