cant take it

Ok now I have a different problem other than being unemployed and I feel horrible about it too. I applied for a job with this company and the next day the called and asked me to come in later that day for an interview. they where doing a group interview (which was fine because there was only one other person there anyways) and after 1 1/2 hrs of the guy telling us about the company he was going to make a decision as to which one of us will be hired. Needless to say I got the job (yay) but unfortunately I couldn't take the job. The reason I couldn't take was because it required travel. I don't have a car and not to mention that the phone call I had about the interview, yeah she gave me wrong information about the job. I was told it was a call center job being paid 12 dollars and hour (which seemed to good to be true but it was a job I thought I couldn't refuse) but then it turns out its a job where I make appointments and sell items to the people being paid practically on commission....honestly it sounded like a great job but again I couldn't take it. and then to make things worse it was on the way home that I realized that I couldn't take it, which means the other person could have had the job instead. does this say anything about my character or my personality. it was a month of looking for a job then I came across this and I can't even take it. anyone got any advise?

You needn't go into further explanation as to why you can't travel. You don't need to tell him that it didn't dawn on you to opt out at the interview. Just tell him upon further consideration of the details of the job, you cannot accept the position because you are unable to travel extensively at this point. Thank him for his consideration, apologize for any incovenience your decision may cause him and continue on your way.

Don't sweat it. Not every job is the right fit for every person. And not every person is the right fit for every job.

Thanks Kelly. I did exactly what you said and they seemed to understand completely. This makes me feel better. Plus i had an interview today that went very well I think. Well, lets hope for the best. smile
